WESTBOURNE GROVE 001
Nicky Haslam is often recognised these days as one of society's bon vivants, making it is easy to forget that the man is a really good interior designer. Really good. Case, point and example is this flat on Westbourne Grove. Every aspect is so clearly considered. The lighting design, the hard furnishings, the soft furnishings, even the plants, yet the whole thing comes together despite the clash of textures, styles and patterns.
This flat didn't simply look good, it was also clearly designed to be practical. The dining and living rooms have a touch of exotic Oriental tones, highlighted by the spectacular LED lights carefully hidden in the coving to provide ambient lighting. The contemporary kitchen is well equipped to ensure even the most extravagant dinner party can be catered for. In fact, this is clearly a flat designed for entertaining. It’s chic but comfortable and we expect the owner enjoyed nothing more than inviting her friends round for dinner in the sumptuous dining room that could easily seat ten.
You then have the the stunning master suite that's clearly luxurious but also clever, where mirrored doors conceal ample wardrobe space. Even the guest bedroom has ample storage and there is yet more storage on the landing. Each of the guest bedrooms also have their own dedicated bathroom, as well.
With no stone left unturned, Haslam’s touch also extended to the roof terrace. Rather than sprinkling a few plants here and there, he created an outdoor room perfect for entertaining. You can just envisage society darlings retreating up here after a sumptuous meal to enjoy a few cocktails or even have a crafty fag. With that view over Westbourne Grove, we'd be there for hours.
Mr Haslam, you did a great job.
