Formed in 2004, Paper Project architecture + design is an award-winning architectural firm based in south-west London. They are a small design-led practice working across an array of project types and scales from bespoke private houses and affordable housing through to commercial and community projects. The firm believe in a sustainable approach to living and are thus experienced in designing low-energy buildings. They also support the notion of architecture having a valuable role to play in society by being able to tackle the changing needs of a society where it can provide a positive transformation in the way we live and use space. In developing physically and socially sustainable buildings, Paper Project architecture + design take a holistic view of each project. Working closely with all members of the project team, the firm are able to produce a responsive sense of architecture. Their approach to design is informed by their role in helping each client to develop a clear and logical brief. In their view, the final result should reflect the clarity of the design concept but also delight and that through innovation, exciting and practical solutions can be achieved. Above all, Paper Project architecture + design enjoy working with their clients, users and collaborators who see the built environment as an opportunity to improve our lives and not just as ‘bricks and mortar’. Directing the firm is Benjamin Elsdon BA (Hons) Dip Arch who originally studied at Oxford Brookes University graduating with a distinction in design. Following employment at Apicella Associates, Kohn Pedersen Fox, Marks Barfield Architects and Allies & Morrison, Ben moved to Cartwright Pickard Architects to work as Project Architect on the award-winning affordable housing project at Bourbon Lane, White City.
