Launched in 2000 during London Fashion Week, the Temperley London brand is synonymous with timeless glamour and exquisite craftsmanship. Creating garments desired by women all over the world, Temperley is known for items that beautifully blend delicate fabrics, intricate beadwork and stunning embellishments. Her fans include Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley, who regularly grace the red carpet with her glamorous designs.

Somerset born yet definitely a local girl at heart, Alice Temperley MBE, opened her first boutique in Notting Hill in 2002. Undoubtedly one of our most recognisable landmarks, the Temperley London HQ epitomises Britannia chic. Where else would you find a Union Jack painted mews building? Since then, Alice has opened a further three stand-alone stores in New York (2003), Los Angeles (2005) and Dubai (2008). Late 2012 will see the opening of her first flagship store in London's Mayfair on Bruton Street, within a beautiful six floor Georgian building dedicated wholely to the World of Temperley.

Tracing her design philosophy back to her specialist training in Fabric Technology and Print at The Royal College of Art, Alice always starts with the fabric. Designing the seasonal prints and embroideries for which she has become renowned, Alice infuses each garment with characteristic attention to detail. Her designs are inspired by her frequent trips to exotic places, from Mexico to the Far East, as well as her penchant for the vintage markets of London and Paris. Each eclectic detail is woven together to create invigorating and diverse collections, each with their own unique story. Take the collection for Autumn/Winter 11, which was as dynamic as ever. Inspired by Josephine Baker, it combined embellishments, vintage-style lace appliqués and bold animal prints with beaded jerseys, art deco prints and faux fur. The latest spring/summer'13 collection debuted at September 2012's London Fashion Week saw 'elegance' and 'class' as the key theme, emulating designs worn by 1950s debutantes with colour palettes combining ice blue and ivory shades, with splashes of reds and some hints of sparkles. Simply beautiful.

Then there's ALICE by Temperley, the brand's diffusion line launched in 2010 embodying British spirit and the rock ‘n' roll atmosphere of London. After celebrating its first year of stylish ALICE collections, the Temperley London brand has now come into its own with a distinctive identity that gives it a truly unique edge. Constantly evolving, Alice plans to cultivate her love of surface decoration and unrivalled craftsmanship with more Temperley London boutiques, as well as forays into homeware, travel accessories, menswear and childrenswear.

With Britishness a recurring theme in her life and designs, collaborations with the likes of Barbour and Twinings (for whom she's just designed a summer scarf) have become a natural part of her empire. She says: "I like the things around me to be beautiful and slightly dreamy, with a feeling of worldliness. Because of that I never thought I'd end up just working in fashion - it was more about a vision of the world that I had."  The Temperley design philosophy is set to extend its influence, transforming it from one of Britain's leading luxury brands to an all-encompassing lifestyle.
