Not that we needed another reaaon to visit one of our top design stores, but the recent launch of The Larder at Abigail Ahern has had us chomping at the bit. As well its already established collection of furniture, accessories, lighting and artwork, the North London store now offers a sensational, select range of gourmet foodthings from Michelin-starred French chef Nicholas Vahé which is already taking Northen Europe by storm. Born in Amies, France, Vahé trained as chef at the 3 star Michelin restaurant Pic-Valence and subsequently as a chocolatier at Daniel Giraud Valence, one of France's best-known dessert chefs. In 2007, Vahé created his very own brand of luxury larder foods from his own recipes that transform everyday dishes into gourmet meals. Available to buy across mainland Europe already, as well as more far-afield locations such as Lebanon and Korea, Vahé's chutneys, appetisers, confits, oils, pestos, pasta and fondues are now on sale in the UK. All of the ingredients are sourced from the South of France due to the climate and concentrated flavour in the produce, creating an incredible variety and depth of taste. All the while, the team at Abigail Ahern have also enlisted Nicolas to supply a selection of his favourite recipes such as braised pork shanks with root vegetables - the perfect way to warm you up as throughout the autumn chill. And if you were wondering where to cook all of these, Ahern has teamed up with desigher Piet van den Kommer to create a beautiful outdoor kitchen made from concrete for the ultimate industrial-style cooker accessory, aptly named Outdoor Kitchen. And who said women can't barbeque?
